Our Journey & Mission

The iVolunteer Story

Step into the national spotlight today, or help us honor a hero who does.

Founded in 2001, iVolunteer began with a foundational truth: when individuals combine their unique time, diverse skills, and shared empathy, lasting social change becomes a reality. Over the last 25 years, this vision has scaled into a massive national ecosystem. Today, iVolunteer actively supports a dynamic network of over 30,000 volunteers annually, seamlessly connecting their professional talents and passions with the critical needs of more than 700 verified non-profit organizations across the country.

As a pioneering social enterprise, our core mission is twofold: to inspire individuals to volunteer and to structurally build the capacity of the development sector to engage volunteers effectively. We firmly believe that skills-based volunteering is one of the most powerful, sustainable mechanisms to address India's vast developmental challenges.

Operating on the ground through a robust network of 7 major Indian metros Delhi, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai, Kolkata, Hyderabad, and Pune we act as a trusted bridge between civic intent and real-world execution. Driven by our guiding philosophy, "we are human because we care," we continue to innovate new models of active citizenship to build a more inclusive, compassionate, and equitable India.

Our structural evaluation model ensures every story of change is thoroughly reviewed, celebrated, and independently validated across a clear four-step process.

Eligibility Framework

Geographic Focus & Citizenship

National winners across all five blocks receive a physical commemorative trophy, an official certificate of excellence, and high-visibility media placements across our digital channels and national press networks.

How It Works

1

Application Screening

All applications are reviewed for completeness, eligibility, and category fit. Applicants are given an opportunity to clarify or correct submissions where needed.

2

Public Vote & Expert Evaluation

Applications are assessed through a balanced 50:50 weighted score, combining public voting with evaluations from an independent expert panel.

3

Finalist Verification

Each finalist undergoes a reference verification process to validate their achievements and ensure the integrity of the selection process.

4

Jury Review & Winner Selection

A distinguished jury comprising leaders from diverse sectors reviews the verified finalists and selects the winner independently.

FAQs

Volunteers stand as the baseline engine of India’s social development sector, yet their efforts often stay unsung. Held annually, these national awards structurally redefine that narrative by celebrating active citizenship and motivating upcoming generations to step forward.

Our programs and volunteer deployment frameworks are deeply rooted in partnership and trust, spanning twelve primary areas of social development. These core sectors include Education, Healthcare Access, Environmental Protection & Climate Action, and Poverty Alleviation, along with Skill Development, Women Empowerment, Animal Welfare, Rural Infrastructure, Disability Inclusion, Disaster Response, Youth Governance, and Senior Citizen Welfare. Contributions across any of these 12 segments are fully eligible for recognition.

Absolutely. Companies running active employee-led volunteering structures are highly encouraged to submit outstanding team members under the Volunteer Hero block or feature their operational CSR frameworks under the corporate category directly on the submission forms.

Nominees are evaluated on impact scalability, the personal dedication of time/skills, the long-term sustainability of the intervention, and innovative resolution models used to tackle specific social challenges across our 12 development sectors.

Once an application passes the initial screening, it accumulates points. 50% of the entry's advancement weight comes from the public voting portal, while the remaining 50% is scored by our independent expert evaluation panel to determine the Top 10 finalists.

Not at all. To guarantee complete transparency and integrity, our grand national jury evaluates verified finalists completely independently—without any visibility into or access to the baseline public voting charts or panel scores from Step 2.
